Importance of coming out of your comfort zone and ways to do it

A comfort zone is a pretty popular place to be around in life. Everything seems to be safe and going well when you are in your comfort zone. But if you are seeking to grow and progress in life, it is definitely not a place you want to be in. The best growth in life happens outside your comfort zone. What’s interesting is that comfort zones only initially are about comfort but with time they become all about fear. You go into a cocoon of a comfort zone as you are afraid to change the status co. Move out of your comfort zone and learn to appreciate the experiences that life throws at you. Ride the waves of risk with ease, and bring success to your life.

Here are some ways to come out of your comfort zone and taste success:

1) Awareness of the world beyond your comfort zone: The best way to get to know the world beyond your comfort zone is to become aware of it. Identify all that happens in that world and make a list of the things worth doing and what is it that keeps you from doing them. Is it the fear of failure, is it the fear of feeling sad or disappointed, is it the fear of being judged by others?

2) Tell yourself that you will not be fearful: Everyday look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that you are fearless and wish to take action on the things that you are afraid of. Gradually, start doing each of the things one by one and tell yourself that you will persist with it irrespective of the outcome. The more you do this, the sooner you’ll overcome your fears of being outside your comfort zone.

3) Stay focused and positive: There will be many instances where your confidence may get rattled. You will begin to develop a great sense of fear. Recognize the fact that all such feelings are natural and we are all bound to go through it, especially when we are trying to do something new. Keep moving on, do not sink with the negative feelings, believe in yourself and believe you will win soon.

4) Stop taking Yourself Too Seriously: One of the best things you can do to enjoy life is to learn to laugh at yourself. When you do so, you will learn to enjoy every moment of life, whether it is a successful one or a setback. Do not take life too seriously; life is too short for that. Learn to add fun to every moment of your life.

5) Make it a habit to try something new: Life is all about learning. Try out new things. Go to a new restaurant that serves a different type of cuisine, learn a new sport, learn a new life program, learn to play a musical instrument. Never shy away from trying out new stuff. It will bring out the best in you and will be a great step towards coming out of your comfort zone.

It may feel a bit unsettling to do all of the above at first, but there is no need to jump straight at doing new things in a big way; start by taking baby steps towards your new goals.
