We all love to increase our productivity in the day, however it is the distractions in life and
lack of motivation that bring our productivity levels down. Staying focused on your goals
despite distractions can be very tough and so I’d like to provide you with a few tips to stay
focussed on your life goals at any point of time. We all have the same number of hours each
day, even the most powerful man in the world, the President of the United States of
America has the same amount of time each day. How you manage your time and increase
your productivity is totally in your hands.
1) Meditation: Meditation is not something only for the monks or the religious; it is a
tool that can empower you in many ways. Meditation is often underrated, but when
practiced regularly, it can turn out to be one of the best life hacks to enhance
productivity and focus through the day. Breathing exercises coupled with meditation
techniques will help you get through your day with strong focus and commitment.
2) Get rid of distractions: First identify the things that distract come in the way of your
productivity. Each one of us has our own set of distractions. Distractions come in the
form of the television, a cell phone, social media, video games, addictions like
alcohol, cigarettes and so on. Act on your distractions by adopting measures like
keeping your phone away from you when you are in the middle of serious work.
Close all social media tabs that may be open on your system. If you get distracted
with particular sounds and noises, shift to a quieter room. Do whatever helps you
avoid distractions.
3) Planning is good but scheduling is more important: The difference between
planning and scheduling maybe likened to that between a wish and milestones on a
road. Planning tells you where you would like to go and how. It helps you get the
where with all ready but scheduling will push you into action in a very methodical
way. Most of us plan our day and the mistake that we make is we usually do the
panning in our mind. Well, this may not be the best place to put all the planning as
your mind is very distracted by several things. The right thing to put your plans and
schedules onto paper. Take a book and write down all the things that you wish to
accomplish each day then schedule a time to complete the tasks. At the end of each
day evaluate your progress.
4) Get good sleep: A restful refreshing sleep at night is what keeps our levels of focus
and productivity high. Make sure to get 7-8 hours of restful sleep each night. Try and
not exceed the recommended hours as oversleeping tends to make you lazy and
lethargic. Avoid caffeinated drinks, screen time and strenuous activity before bed
time; it will help you get restful sleep.
5) Healthy Diet: It is essential to maintain a healthy diet to fuel up your body and mind.
If you delay or skip meals energy levels will stay low and you may face an emotional
imbalance and a lack of focus. Make sure you have a balanced diet of lean protein,
complex carbohydrates and healthy fats that provide for the essential nutrients in
the body. Include some of the best brain foods in your diet like kale, spinach,
broccoli, salmon, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, walnuts and so
on.
Staying focussed in life helps you achieve your goals with ease. It also boosts your
productivity each day. There is nothing better than living your life on your own
terms. In fact, I always advocate the need for life’s mastery and keeping that in mind
