When we are energetic we live a high energy and automatically become happier healthier
and often even wealthier. Energetic people are known to be more productive live life the
king size. The problem is that many of us start off very energetic but get slowed down due
to the cross winds that we are forced to face along life’s journey. Even daily chores coupled
with stress can drain us of energy and happiness. I know many who live lives without any
momentum and so accomplish very little in their lives. Indeed I have seen highly productive
people suddenly get bereft of energy and live their entire lives on the periphery. What a
waste of a life..!!
Here are some ways to keep you energetic, excited and happy with yourself:
1) Control Stress: Stress consumes loads of energy and truly drains us out. When
stressed try and talk to a friend, or join a support group or get yourself a life coach.
Worry will do nothing to help you. It will only not allow you to enjoy the moment. If
there is something that worries you get it resolved. If you can’t resolve it then there
is no point in worrying about it! Try out stress reduction techniques like meditation,
yoga or even dance therapy. Spend time with nature. It really helps reduce stress
levels.
2) Lighten your load: If you feel the stress is getting to you then reduce your daily load
till you feel you are in a position to get back to your normal routine or even better till
you can increase your load. When down don’t chew more than you can. Each day
prepare a to-do list and put onto it just the right amount of things that you can
accomplish in a day. The satisfaction one gets by ticking off successful targets can
have a huge positive rub off on your morale.
3) Exercise: Exercising is very important in reducing stress and increasing your energy
levels. Find a right routine of bodyweight exercises or weight training. Make sure you
work out at least 4 days a week for one hour each day. Sweat it out real good for
best results.
4) Avoid smoking: If you are one of those who puff their way to glory, try to quit
smoking. Smoking actually saps you of energy and besides all its well-known side
effects it even causes insomnia. When you do not get adequate sleep you will feel
drained off energy.
5) Adequate Sleep: Sleep is an underrated necessity. Make sure you get sufficient
hours of sleep each day. A good 7-8 hours of restful sleep is a must. Avoid any screen
time before going to bed and when possible keep a gap of at least two hours
between your last meal and bed time.
6) Eat healthy: Try and weed out junk food from your diet. Eat a good mix of
carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Include fresh foods and fruits in your diet. Eat fresh
foods where possible and don’t hesitate to fast if you don’t have contraindicated
health issues like diabetes etc in which case you should consult a doctor before
fasting.
7) Limit alcohol: Enjoying a drink each day is fine, but do not overdo it. Alcohol reduces
your reaction time and often makes you feel lethargic. Avoid drinking during the day
and if you feel you need to indulge in one, do so late evening.
Life is not only about accumulating wealth. While wealth is very important there is no point
in having all the wealth in the world if you are not physically well and able to enjoy it. If you
don’t get this then understand that you are only accumulating wealth to be able to pay for
your medical bills at a later date. For those of you struggling with weight gain, I have just the
