7 Ways to build better Relationships

How can you get the best out of some of your relationships in order to feel healthier, happier and more fulfilled? As we get older we seek for more companionship and deeper meaning in our relationships. However, it is not always easy to have intimacy in relationships unless we are ready to risk being ‘rejected’ or laughed at.

Here are a few pointers that will help you along your journey.

1) Be genuine: You need to bring your genuine self to the table if you would like to take your relationships to the next level. You need to be able to show your counterpart your partner the real you. This helps both. Ifn the first instance the person you would like to build this relationship with see you as being open and truthful but at the same time you know that you are being accepted for who you are rather than who you used to project yourself to be.

2) Have more meetings: You might have fun hanging out in groups; however for deep intimacy one on one meetings should be your primary way forward. They allow you to bond and have personal conversations which are practically impossible in the group.

3) Listen attentively: Listening is a great way for you to be able to nurture an intimate relationship. Slow down and pay as much attention to the recipient of your affection when you engage with them. He or she will begin to notice that you are interested in them and appreciate that you care.

4) Remember the little things: When your friend discusses the small things that they like or dislike, make a note of it. If you remember them at the next meeting and act accordingly without being told they will appreciate you all the more.

5) More calls: Instead of just texts messages, try and make more phone calls. They convey emotions better, give a right tone to your words and make the other person feel more loved.

6) Reduce time on social media: Do not get so caught up with social media that it makes you forget the real relationships you should be building. Instead try and meet up in person instead of spending time with your loved ones online. The offline connect is wonderful and a million times more meaningful.

7) Have fun: It is very essential to be yourself and have fun in a relationship. Do not let it get dry and boring. Act silly, let the child inside you come out at times, just be yourself and watch your relationship blossom.
