Healthy choices can help us live happy, wealthy, healthy and longer. We are creatures of
habit and so when we live by good habits life just gets better. By eliminating the bad habits
and choosing the good ones we can get our life back on track and live according to what is
right. So how do we do it?
1) Be mindful: We need to be aware and live mindfully through the day. Very often our
bodies do one thing while our mind is thinking about something else. We perform
most of our daily activities like working, eating and exercising mechanically. The first
step to form a healthy habit is to be mindful of what we are doing. Make a note of
every single thing that you do for a week. You will then gain knowledge and an
understanding of what you do through your day and you will do it well.
2) Plan it up: Make sure you take on your day with a plan and do not live it as per
external factors alone. Every night before you go to bed plan your next day. Have a
schedule for work and leisure. Add all the necessary details in it and refer to it in the
morning. It will form a guide for you to accomplish all crucial tasks and it will lead
you to having a very productive day.
3) Build a support system: Surround yourself with people who will help you grow. Have
accountability partners who share the same goals as you. Make sure to receive the
encouragement from people around you, it is a great way to live life. Have a gym
buddy, a yoga partner, join a master mind and you’ll be on the right track of forming
positive habits.
4) Reconnect with yourself on a regular basis: You need to be able to have the best
relationship with yourself. Very often we get so busy in life that we do things only for
others and not ourselves. We lose the connection with who we truly are. Every now
and then, go to a quiet place, sit down alone, breathe deeply and check whether
everything is right with you. Your body and mind will radiate messages of things that
are good and not so good in your life. Make a list of all of these and work on the
areas that need improvement.
5) Eat consciously: One of the most important places to be mindful is when we eat.
When we are mindful of what we eat we will develop the habit of healthy eating.
You will be conscious of what you eat, how much you eat and when you eat. All
these are a must for a balanced diet and for you to live well.
Be patient with yourself. Developing good habits takes time, however the benefits are
amazing. Be consistent with what you do and stay conscious of your actions the entire day,
your mind will automatically be programmed to do well for yourself.
